Software I use, gadgets I love, and other things I recommend.

I get asked a lot about the things I use to build software, stay productive, or buy to fool myself into thinking I’m being productive when I’m really just procrastinating. Here’s a big list of all of my favorite stuff.

Workstation

  • 14” MacBook Pro, M1 Pro, 32GB RAM (2021)

Before I started working, I was in favor of Windows and against Apple. However, now I can't imagine using anything other than Apple. The M1 chip has revolutionized the game, and MacOS offers far more advantages than Windows in terms of development and productivity.

  • LG 34GN850-B 34'' 21:9 Curved QHD 1ms Monitor with 144Hz

A 34-inch monitor is the ideal size for me if I only want one monitor. Although I might switch back to using two monitors in the future, this size is perfect for now. It's important for me to have a refresh rate of at least 120Hz as 60Hz feels unnatural to me.

  • Logitech MX Keys

I have tried many mechanical keyboards, but I always come back to this one. It is excellent for programming and typing in general. I prefer a low-profile keyboard with a comfortable feel and well-spaced keys. However, I do have a Worklouder Nomad[E] on the way.

  • Logitech MX Master 3

A solid mouse with a comfortable grip and just enough buttons. The programmable thumb button at the base allows for such a natural flow with the MacOS gestures.

  • Herman Miller x Logitech Embody

As I prioritize physical health, I chose to invest in a Herman Miller chair. While the Embody is a good chair, I believe there may be a better fit for me.

  • SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless

Good and clear commmunication is essential for remote work (And for the occasianl gaming session). I've has quite a few headsets, but this one is the best I've ever used. The wireless feature alone is worth it, but it's also comfortable and has great sound quality.

Development tools

  • VS Code

VS Code fulfills my programming needs effectively. Although I have come across some appealing alternatives recently, I consistently gravitate towards VS Code due to its extensive range of extensions and the supportive community.

  • Oh My Zsh

Just a great Zsh framework that ads a lot of useful features and makes it easy to customize your terminal.

  • Postico 2

Great software for working with PostgreSQL databases. Simple and quick.

Design

  • Figma

We started using Figma as just a design tool but now it’s become our virtual whiteboard for the entire company. Never would have expected the collaboration features to be the real hook.

Productivity

  • Linear

The best issue tracker I've ever used. It's simple, intuitive, and fast. Using it is a pleasure. Linear is one of the companies I admire the most because of their magical approach to product development.

  • Raycast

The command tool that enables me to do everything on my computer without using the mouse. It's a must-have for me. Sometimes its just easier to type a command than to click through the UI.

  • Notion

A simple and powerful tool for organizing my life. I use it for everything from taking notes to planning my day to managing my projects.

  • Rise

A great calendar app that helps me plan my day and stay focused on my goals.
